In the second episode of COASTLESS, Melissa and Boyce discuss getting up the courage to travel solo.
Boyce recounts his poorly planned solo trip to Peru for a hiking excursion while Melissa tells about how she booked a dumpling–making class to break up a solo trip to Beijing. The two then discuss the merits of booking travel through a tour group like G Adventures or Intrepid when traveling alone.
After a brief discussion of using hosteling to save money while solo traveling (including Boyce’s recommendation for “The Beehive”— a hostel in Rome), Boyce gives his tip for finding English–speaking friends when traveling abroad.
KMBZ’s Jayme Monacelli is then welcomed to the pod to discuss her epic road trip — where she took her job on the road to explore the United States. She explains the route she took and some of her tips for finding a good Airbnb, as well as how she overcame moments of loneliness.
